Alzheimer’s Society

The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers.

We provide information and support to people with any form of dementia and their carers.

We have a dementia advisor who can come to groups to talk about all aspects of dementia.

Barking Community Birth Centre

Barking Community Birth Centre is a midwife-led birth centre offering antenatal,  intrapartum & postnatal care. We also facilitate parent education classes.

Please note our services are by appointment only, we do not offer A&E services.

DABD Equipment for everyday living

We have a wide range of daily living equipment available to purchase to help make your life easier.

Items include manual and electric wheelchairs, scooters and walking aids, as well as adapted household items and personal care products such as bathing aids or commodes.

To make your purchase easier and to give you peace of mind, we offer independent advice, information and product care advice.

Our service engineer is also able to visit you at home and install certain items (hand rails, fixed toilet frames etc.) for a minimal charge.

For electric wheelchairs and scooters we can offer servicing, repair and maintenance plans – priced individually according to your needs.

DABD Kid’s Patch Club

Kids Patch is our Ofsted registered weekend club for children and young people aged 5 + with disabilities or additional needs.

 The club offers a friendly, fun, social and inclusive environment for three age groups (5 – 8, 9 – 13 and 14 – 18) with specialist equipment and facilities and trained staff.

Children and young people can enjoy crafts and themed activities promoting confidence, positive relationships and of course, fun!
Activities include:
• Arts and crafts
• Sensory room
• Video games
• Day trips and outings

Our Saturday Club runs 9am – 3pm in Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We also run clubs on some Sundays and during school holidays (please ask for further details).

Future M.O.L.D.S Communities

We work with young people and their families to develop their own unique progression routes and continue to support them throughout their journey as long as required.

We tailor our services in such a way that is benefical to the unique invidiual and wider community.  We week to identify personal and social barriers, exploring and developing strategies to overcome them.  We support young people from the ages of 13 – 21 years and offer some services for adults also.

  • Boxfit kids 13-18yrs on Wednesdays 4pm – 5pm

1-2-1 Drop In services

We also run The Good Youth Forum bi-monthly (13 years +) and The Women’s Partnership (a consortium of community groups).

The Listening Zone (young people specialists)

The Listening Zone is a counselling service for young people aged 14 to 21 who live or study in Barking and Dagenham.

Young people can contact the service directly (see below for details).

Short term (1 to 4 sessions) or longer term counselling (1 to 12 months and occasionally longer) may be offered according to need.

Whole Body Therapy

Award winning Social Enterprise providing specialist falls prevention exercise , Seated exercise and specialist massage services to all but specializing in services for the disabled and older people. Mainly outreach service to peoples homes and care homes.

Falls prevention exercise for those at risk on a one to one or group basis– paid service.

We have a new over 50s Exercise & Community group at Fanshawe Community Centre starting on 31st May on Wednesdays from 4.30pm – 6pm.

Massage services for wellbeing improvement but also for injury treatment.
