Our purpose

We recognised that families and individuals with multiple and complex needs often end up falling through the gaps in provision. The support is hard to find and individuals, even frontline workers, often don’t know where to turn. Practitioner knowledge is limited, services are not joined up and published information is outdated. A disjointed and messy process that often wastes a lot of time.

The challenge facing Local Authorities is greater than ever; reduced funding, greater demand on services through the requirements of the Care Act 2014 and Welfare Reform.  There has never been a more critical time to maximise local services across the sectors.  CommunityConnect was established to bring a solution by joining up information about local service provision.

BanD Together is the local deployment of CommunityConnect in Barking and Dagenham.  BanD Together is the brand used for partnership work across the sectors in the borough.

What We Offer

BanD Together Routemaster provides individuals and practitioners with a single tool that takes account of multiple or complex needs and delivers relevant and accurate signposting to appropriate services including benefits, local agencies and other support organisations.

The Method

Our online tool diagnoses the need through a series of questions that explore ‘what the problem is’ rather than asking ‘what do you want to know’ leading to a personalised pathway of available support.

Employing Expert System technology BanD Together Routemaster determines relevant advice for a user based on answers they have provided to a branching, context aware question framework.

How we know the information is accurate

Our aim is to provide accurate and up-to-date information.  To make sure we do, all providers listed in the ‘Providers Section’ receive a phone call, from one of our team, once a month to check the information is still relevant.  The links contained within the text are also checked monthly.

All advice organisations listed are members of the Advice Plus Network in LBBD.

Who we are

CommunityConnect was established by people who have experience in frontline delivery, development of digital solutions and Local Authority service provision.

It was cultivated by Community Resources and is now managed through a partnership with LifeLine Community Projects, an established UK charity with over 15 years of experience of public service contract delivery and BeInformed, an independent software company developing solutions to welfare provision internationally.
